Middle School Band Night Details

Greetings 7/8th Grade Band Students and Families:

I am excited to meet and work with the 7th and 8th-grade band students Friday night, October 20th. I recommend students and their families take the time to review the contents of this message before dropping your student off at the marching band practice field. I recommend that all students eat a snack before being dropped off and that the students dress in layers. Please see the What to Wear section below for more details.

Timeline

4:50 pm Student Drop Off @ BHS Football Practice Fields

• Review the map for the drop-off location

• All brass and percussion students should attend the rehearsal without their instrument cases.

• All woodwinds should bring their instrument cases as it may rain.

5:00 pm Rehearse w/ BHS Marching Band

6:15 pm March to Hurley Field

• All band students will march down Catalpa and enter Hurley Field when they get to Anderson Middle School. Review the map for the parade route.

6:45 pm Pregame Performance

• 7th and 8th-grade band students will be performing during our pre-game performance.

  • The marching Band plays Light Em Up under the stands w/ middle School Students

  • Marching Band enters the field

  • Marching Band plays Fight Song

  • 7th and 8th Grade BHS Marching Band members play Don’t Stop Believin

  • Varsity Football Team rushes the football field while the BHS Marching Band plays the Fight Song.

  • High School Band Plays National Anthem Star Spangled Banner

  • All band students exit the football field toward the scoreboard.

  • All band students enter the stadium bleachers.

7:00 pm Football Game Starts

• 1st Quarter - Be in the stands w/ High School Marching Band

• 2nd Quarter - Be in the stands w/ High School Marching Band

• Half-Time Performance by BHS Marching Band - Watch High School in Stands

• 3rd Quarter Pizza Party

• 7/8th Graders Dismissed inside Anderson Middle School Cafeteria

Drop-Off

Please drop your student off at Berkley High School. There will be a check-in table near the marching band practice field. Two Berkley Instrumental Boosters and a few High School Marching Band students will check you in and be willing to answer any questions you may have about the event. All 7/8th Grade Band students must check in before heading to the practice field. You will also receive your marching band shirt for the event at the check-in table.

March to the Stadium

All band students will march together from the practice field down Catalpa to Hurley Field between 6:00 pm and 6:15 pm. The marching band will play the fight song outside the stadium and then stage for their pre-game performance with the middle school band students.

Pre-Game

This football game also highlights the seniors in cheer and football. The announcer will acknowledge each senior at 6:30 pm before the marching band takes the field for their pre-game performance.

Half-time

At the beginning of Half-Time, the marching band will perform a throwback performance of Don't Go Breaking My Heart, a tune the senior's played during their 9th-grade year. Then they will perform their 2022 marching band production Still Standing. Once the marching band finishes playing the last note of music, the announcer will acknowledge our very own marching band seniors. After the announcements, all band students will head to the Anderson Middle School cafeteria for the pizza party.

Instrument Cases

Participating students should leave their instrument cases at home or in the car that drops them off. Any student who brings their instrument case to the marching band practice field will be responsible for carrying their instrument and instrument case to Hurley Field.

Middle School Percussionists

We will do our best to provide Marching Drums for middle school students using Berkley H.S. Marching Drums and Norup International Drums. Please bring your own drumsticks..

Spectator Information

We invite all family members and friends to attend the game; the cost to enter the stadium is $5.00. 

Family and friends will want to be seated inside the stadium no later than 6:45 pm to watch your middle school student perform alongside the high school marching band for their pre-game performance. 

We do not allow family, friends, or spectators to sit in the band section; only Marching Band students and 7/8th Grade Band students and Marching Band staff can sit in the marching band section of the stands. The section of bleachers directly next to the marching band (section to the right of the marching band) is the student body section and not a great place to sit for the general public.

Pizza Party/Pick-Up

After the half-time marching band performance, all middle school and high school marching band students will be escorted to the Anderson Middle School cafeteria. The Berkley Instrumental Boosters will provide pizza and water for the students. Please pick your student up in the Anderson Middle School cafeteria.
