21 Aug. | 9th-Grade Orientation Performace

We have received an invitation from Mr. Meloche, Principal of Berkley H.S., to perform during the Freshman Orientation on Monday, August 21, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am.

***9th-Grade Information about Freshman Orientation

All 9th-Grade Marching Band students are invited and encouraged to participate in the performance. 9th-Grade MB students will be excused from the auditorium at 10:00 am to transition to the band room to warm up with the rest of the marching band. 

Timeline

23 Aug. | Music Rehearsal/Performance

for Teachers @ BHS

Mr. Francis, Berkley Superintendent, has asked the Berkley High School Marching Band to perform for the teachers on August 23. The time of the performance is going 11:00 am. Instead of rehearsing at Hurley Field that morning, I am asking all Marching Band students to meet in the BHS Band room in their summer band uniform. We will use this time to rehearse music and learn stand tunes we play during the football game. Please pay careful attention to the new schedule for August 23.

• 8:30 am - Leadership Meeting

• 9:00 am - Music Rehearsal Begins (In Summer Band Uniform)

• 10:55 am - Stage for Teacher Performance

• 11:00 am - Teacher Performance (we may still rehearse music after the performance in the band, depending on time).

Noon - Dismissed

23 Aug. | Uniform Makeup

Uniform Fittings will begin in the BHS Band room after rehearsal, on August 23, after marching band rehearsal between 12:15 pm -3:00 pm. If you cannot attend on this date/time, please inform Mr. Thomann as soon as possible.

Students will have access to the dressing rooms behind the auditorium to try on their uniforms. Students must bring a completed and signed uniform fitting agreement form and the dry-cleaning fee to leave with their uniform.

24 Aug. | First Football Game

Gameday-at-a-Glance

• ***CHANGE*** 4:00 pm- Rehearsal starts at BHS the night of a home football game. (The change in rehearsal time is due to the loss of rehearsal in the stadium due to the teacher's performance.)

• 6:15 pm- The band will march along Catalpa to Hurley Field. Parents and family are welcome to gather in front of Anderson Middle School to take pictures and cheer the band on as they arrive at Hurley Field. (And if you arrive at this time you will get a great parking spot!!)

• Help needed to load/unload the truck with instrument cases, sell 50/50 Raffle tickets or buy your Band Fan Wear!

• Students have 3rd-quarter off, but must remain in the stadium. They are required to be back in the stands at the start of the 4th quarter and stay through the end of the game.

Ways to Volunteer and Support the Students

There are many ways for a parent or guardian to support the band with very little time commitment. There are many little jobs that the students need help with, e.g., taking videos (the band owns two video cameras), moving an equipment cart, donating water, distributing water, setting up Drum Major ladders, etc. Please consider signing up for one of the vacancies listed to support the band by clicking the button below.
